Really? That's strange... Oh! I think I figured out why that happens, see, you're supposed to put bread in the toaster, not toast. Wow... but I never expected for JESUS to pop up when you put toast in a toaster...
interesting... bread becomes toast and toast becomes Jesus...

Back on topic, someone enlighten me... I watched "United 93" which is about one of the flights that went down on 9/11, except this plane was taken over by the passengers and they managed to stop the terrorists but in the process the flight hit the ground in some Pennsylvanian field.
During the movie, the terrorists kept reminding themselves that it was "for God" and that they were doing it with really good intentions...
What do you make of that?

During the movie, the terrorists kept reminding themselves that it was "for God" and that they were doing it with really good intentions... Well, in the Qur'an, there is a verse that states that rewards will await you in heaven if you serve your god (Allah) by defending Islam. This is what is called "jihad", and its an optional sixth pillar of Islam. But like with the Bible, the Qur'an can be misused. Extremists interpret jihad to mean they should kill all non-Islamics. The violent extremists take the Qur'an totally out of context as an excuse for violence and nationalism.

(That wasn't sarcasm, either. It's hard to tell on the internet...)

I don't think such devoted followers of Christ would assume that Jesus was one with God if He hadn't said it Himself. That's a pretty big assumption. Hate to go farther off topic, but wouldn't you also think that these concepts are also huge assumptions: -The concept of Purgatory -The process of praying to Mary and other saints, rather than directly to God -Saving someone from Purgatory and/or Hell through lighting of a candle None of these things are mentioned in the Bible, and yet somewhere along the line, the Roman Catholic church accepted them, and most Catholics still hold them true to this day. My point? Illogical belief systems can stem out all the time. Just because something is "too big to assume" doesn't mean people won't assume it.

The application of that argument to Maria's statement = 0
Honestly. "I and the Father are one", "before Abraham was, I Am", "He who has seen me has seen the Father". That's pretty obvious. He never, however, mentioned purgatory, prayers to saints, or postmortem salvation.
No one said that the concept was "too big to assume", all they said was that it comes straight from the source, so assumption isn't an option. It's either true or Jesus lied.

But as I said before, Allan, how do we know the quotes in the Gospels are correct quotes?

Are you saying that the Bible might have correct quotes from Jesus? I'm not quite sure what your argument is... if it's about Jesus' quotes, think about this:
Jesus claimed that He was "one" with God, and that God was his father... All of the religious figures and people of the church, pharisees, those people absolutely HATED him, and all the Jews wanted him crucified.
If you ask me, if ANYONE wanted to "fake" quotes and a story, they would've made it more "believable" to the people of that time and everyone else. And it's not like there's only one chapter about that kind of stuff, it's everywhere! The story of Jesus is consistent, and everything that happens makes sense.
The story of Jesus sounds more like a historical document than a story someone came up with.
