My church's youth choir is planning a trip to NYC and I thought it would be great if a bunch of FNY members could come with the group, particularly the ones who have never been before. All the details haven't yet been worked out, but the price would be somewhere in the $100 - $300 range (VERY cheap for a New York trip) and the dates will most likely be somewhere in late June.
The trip would include: -A bus trip to New York and back -A day of sightseeing -A day of service (i.e. feeding the homeless at a Soup Kitchen) -Singing at a church service in Manhattan -A Broadway show
Comitting to the trip would mean you need to commit one Saturday sometime in May to catch up and learn all the music we're singing and, of course, commit to the dates of the trip, which I'll get to you guys ASAP. There will probably only be about 10-15 open spots, so its pretty much first-come/first-serve. I hope you guys can make it!

The Staten Island Ferry is totally free and you get to see many icons. It's a huge tourist attraction.

You must know by now.^ I don't know if you can cover all of those things on your list in just one day, so make sure you'll be able to drop one event because it's almost certain that you'll run outta time faster than you anticipated.
Top 10 (from WNY):
1. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. (Free & you get great views of Downtown) 2. Visit Times Square; see a Broadway Show. 3. Ride the Staten Island Ferry. (It's free and only takes a hour both ways.) 4. Go to the top of the Empire State Building. (Great views of all of NYC) 5. Visit the World Trade Center; take a tour if possible. 6. Visit at least one museum: MoMA, MMA, Guggenheim, Whitney, Skyscraper. 7. Visit Central Park. 8. Go to a Yankee/Mets game. 9. Visit Trinity or St. Pat's Church. 10. Visit Chinatown, Little Italy, or Greenwich Village.

Statue of Liberty's not on there? I know that access is more restricted in this post-911 world, but I still wouldn't mind visiting the Statue of Liberty.

The Ferry passes right by it (around 1/4 th a mile away). [Make sure to stay on the left side if from Staten Island and the right side if from Manhattan Island.] I don't recall if people are allowed to go inside it anymore. I think they can. I took this shot from the ferry fairly recently: That was before I knew how to use my camera properly. Now I bet I can easily get a much better, more detailed shot.
