Yeah and it does change shape depending on from where you look at it. The Freedom Tower has had over a dozen redesigns. One of the first designs was this megastructure over 2,000 feet tall; the bottom part was office and the top was all just structure (except nothing tapered and it was much bigger than anything else). It would have been the biggest thing ever built. All of the versions of Freedom Tower were over 1,776 feet tall except the current version, but the current one may have an antenna (sticking outta the spire) that reaches around 1,900 feet tall. The earlier designs were all around 2,000 feet tall including their antenna, but I'm sure you know that antennas don't count. The only thing I would have liked to see was that sexy diagrid in one of the older versions. That was amazing and I would love to see the old Freedom Tower be built somewhere else in NY. You never know because Childs is involved with all of these projects around NY.

Workers just put up the logo. All of NY's greatest and tallest building are under construction or under design at this moment.

Oh, I thought the Times tower had been finished for a while. Didn't know it was in the final stages of construction....

Yeah, when I say a building is complete, I just mean it's topped out. They still have internal and external work to do. And hell, a new hopeful was born. It's over 1,000 feet tall and is totally separate from anything that I've mentioned so far. They just don't stop coming. Dubai has met its match. In terms of size, this building is on the same exact scale as the Freedom Tower, over 2.5msf of Class A office. From what I gather, like the older version, it's able to emit a beam of light from the top. If you mixed the DNA of WTC Towers 2, 2, and 4, you would get this.

As much as I love all of these new buildings, it's kind of sad to think that one day, the Empire State building will be lost in a mass of taller buildings.

I said the same at SSC. "It's hard to believe that, after 80 years, the Empire State Building will lose its dominance." But why is that such a bad thing? It's not being demolished to make room. The ESB is still by far the most famous object ever created by humans, and nothing can change that. Even if it is blocked from all angles, it won't be going anywhere, and it will only be lit up brighter. What NY needs, and I do mean need, is dozens of taller buildings, all the same size of 2ifc and the icc. Think of how unique new New York is going to look, the past and future together. I'm happy that its during my lifetime that this transformation will be completed. The peak of the city's history is coming. Everything is at our fingertips. Or if you can't accept the above, you can always revive this plan: If that ever did happen, I bet would would be see the old version as the crappy one. S*** happens.

Ewww, that looks tacky! By SSC, do you mean SkyscraperCity.com? I frequent their Miami/South Florida forum, but I'm not a member.

Yeah, it does, all big buildings sway at the top because the wind's more pwoerful up there or something... But yeah, I know it won't fall but it still feels scary!
