With the new movie and book coming out in about a month and a half, I thought I'd start a Harry Potter thread!
Since I'm on the nerdier side of the Potter fandom, I'm more excited about the new book (although I must say the new movie looks amazing, too...) Anyways, here are some points of discussion for talking about the new book...
-Is Snape good, evil, or just working for himself? -Who is R.A.B.? -Is Harry himself a Horcrux?

-Good. (Conspiracy theory time...) I think that he murdered Dumbledore on Dumbledore's comand. No idea why, (maybe to save Draco's life?) but since when has Dumbledore begged for mercy? I thiink he'll redeem himself in the last book.
God, I love Snape. He's so confusing.
-Regulus Black. Yeah... that's pretty much common knowledge now...
-OMGWTF... that would be far ouuut, maaaan. I like that idea a lot. Also, (can't remember if this was mentioned in the book, it's been a while) I think Nagini's a horcrux too.
When I finish this book, I will cry and cry and cry. ;_;

-I have doubts about Snape - I think a lot of what Rowling has said lends toward a bad Snape, but that may be just to throw us off. She's also said Dumbledore's dead for sure, which makes me sad, but I suspected that when Fawkes dissappeared...
-I think Regulus Black is too obvious. My bet is on Mr. Borgin.
-In Chamber of Secrets, Dumbledore talks about Voldemort "insertinmg part of himself into harry", which is why Harry can speak Parseltongue and all. This sounds too similar to the creation of a Horcrux as described in Book Six, especially considering that Voldemort had just committed two murders at the time he tried to kill Harry... IF Harry is a Horcrux, I don't think Voldemort knew that he had inserted part of his soul into him, and I'm pretty sure he still doesn't know, considering the amount of times he's tried to kill him...
But of course, we've forgotten the most pressing question of all...
How the heck can house elves do laundry???

-Links to Jo? plzkthx. *hasn't heard the the things Rowling has said*
-You know what? I hope so... That's part of the reason I hope Snape is good, I love the unexpected little twists in HP. (Nothing can ever beat the Scabbers thing though...)
-I like that a lot. It would explain all the Voldy/Harry parallels quite nicely.
Nina, you confuse and disturb me.

Well, people have been theorizing about there being more to the "part of Voldemort inside Harry" thing than meets the eye for a while, and they have some good evidence to support it, but their ideas about Voldemort splitting his soul between his former self, Tom, and his current self always seem too complicated to me. The Horcrux thing makes it all fit...

House elves can do laundry just like valets can park cars. Just because you give a valet your keys does not mean they now own your car. Same with your clothes. I honestly don't know what to think about Snape. I think Harry will die in the end, because neither of them can live. Whether or not this has to do with him being the last Horcrux, I don't know. OMGZ, I would have never come up with Mr. Borgin! That would be an AMAZING twist, and Jo never makes things obvious. I'm still going to say it's Regulus. On a side note, there are clips of Nicholas Hooper's new score for OOTP on the OOTP website. It's surprisingly good. It's not John Williams, but it certainly isn't Patrick Doyle (GoF), praise the Lord!

Universal is opening a Harry Potter theme park!!! Here's all the info: mugglenet.com/app/news/show/935Holy crap ,this is crazy! I can't wait to go into a real Hogwarts! Although my opinion is that a whole theme park is a bit much - especially considering the last book comes out this July and after July, there are only two movies left as well. After the movies are gone, where will the Harry Potter hype be?

Oh my gosh! I had heard talk of something like this, and I'm a big Universal fan (sorry, Swoosh ) but I thought it was only a rumor. "Surely, they couldn't build a Harry Potter theme park...." It's going to be small, though. They're squeezing it into The Lost Continent in Islands of Adventure, which is pretty much built out. My guess is that they'll be demolishing some of the existing studio space that they don't use (Nickelodeon moved to phased out their FL production a few years ago). But I wonder how guests will reach that space. It'd be tacky if they have to leave the "middle ages Europe" section, walk through the "ancient arabian" section to arrive at the "Harry Potter" section. I can't believe this. I always thought it would be cool, though it seems as if the Harry Potter franchise has become so much more than books. It's now possible for people to immerse themselves in the story without ever having to pick up a book. And I must say, I kinda like this music from the park's website: www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter/I hope they use John Williams' music, though! Oh, and I thought it would've been so much cooler and more authentic to have a Harry Potter theme park in Scotland. But money talks, and Orlando is the most financially profitable location.
