I don't think the beams of light are going to be a problem. The plans for the buildings are all approved by the city and countless agencies, so I'm sure they know what they're doing. I just looked into it, and the WTC Performing Arts Center is the last thing that will be done, perhaps taking as long as until 2013 or 2014 until they have a first performance. The Performing Arts Center will be located in front of 7WTC and in the middle of Tower 1 (The Freedom Tower) and Tower 2 (Norman Foster’s Tower). The Performing Arts Center won’t be built until after the temporary north entrance to the PATH station is removed; the temporary north entrance to the PATH station is under construction right now, so I wouldn’t expect the Arts Center to be built anytime soon. Designs for the Performing Arts Center have yet to be announced. It's the only thing that isn't designed. If money gets tight, I guarantee you that the Arts Center will be the first thing to be dropped from the project. I really wouln't expect them to spend any more than $1 billion on it, but, imho, with Spitzer in charge, they most likely won't even spend any more than around $400 million.

well $400 mil. is alot. I hope they have a nice, BIG, auditorium that shows temporary shows, not long running Broadway shows. I bet they will have a ton of studios for plays to rehearse.

I'm anxious to see what type of special lighting they'll do on the 11th of September in years to come.

It's the World Trade Center, not some arts center. Stuff like the arts center is not vital to this megaproject. The city is selling building rights to private developers, so you're lucky the Arts Center is still in the current Master Plan. Larry, who owns most of the building rights, seems to think that the massive mall, arts center, and other new things will only enhance the World Trade Center, so that's why the project is what it is today. I'm anxious to see what type of special lighting they'll do on the 11th of September in years to come. The Twin Towers of Light (Tribute in Light) will only last until 2009, I am 99% sure. After than, I'm sure the skyscrapers will put on some flashy light shows. Pilots have claimed to have seen the two beams in the sky from over Ohio.

The Plan: 12345678Only 7 is completed. Everything else is being built now, all at the same time. Number 8 (The GS Global HQ Tower) will be topped in a few months; right now they are building floor 11.

www.wsw.com/webcast/cc/panynj7/Another construction video from the PANYNJ. I hope they'll be working on 9/11 too, while the last memorial service takes place on the footprints. America and the world will focus on this construction site in a few days, and I hope the world sees all of the cranes, construction trucks, and steel. The site looks totally different from last year.
